Vilunü (pronounced “Vilu-noo”) makes contemporary Maldivian scents — the Scents of Maldives range — and sells them from a shop in Thulusdhoo, outside Greater Malé. The name is the Dhivehi word for the turquoise of a lagoon. The public shop contact is the website, [email protected], and Instagram @vilunu.co.
People who want a Maldivian-made home scent or perfume, rather than an imported designer bottle. The shop in K. Thulusdhoo is for visitors who can go to the island. A limited collection is also with stockists in Malé, and the site takes orders for other islands.
Founded and run by two Maldivian women, Aish and Immi. Aish’s side is chemistry and formulation, including plant knowledge from family stories. Immi’s side is design and storytelling. They say every scent is formulated, blended, and tested at their own lab in Malé.
The about page says: visit the shop in K. Thulusdhoo.
Travelution reported the official opening of this first retail outlet as 26 June 2026. The brand’s own post, a month later, calls it the first physical store, on the island that inspired the perfume.
Thulusdhoo is in Kaafu, a short trip from Malé. It is not a Greater Malé listing.
The shop navigation on vilunu.com groups products by type and by scent.
The about page says the flagship, Tangerine & Guava Leaf, launched in January 2020 as a reed diffuser, after work that started in 2017 — first in a living room, then in a lab in Malé.
Thulusdhoo Drift is the first eau de parfum. Travelution (29 June 2026) says it is designed, formulated, and bottled in the Maldives, and lists notes of fresh coconut and sea salt, herbaceous greens, tropical fruits, citrusy neroli, and a sandalwood base. The brand’s post does not print a note pyramid; it describes coconut palms, salt air, and unhurried afternoons on the island.
“Capturing something as intangible as the feeling of an island is no small task. The fragrance either transports you there or it doesn't. There was no in between.”
— Vilunü, “Our first perfume and our first store”, 30 July 2026In a 9 January 2023 post they describe two bespoke resort scents, separate from the retail line: Coconut & Pink Sunsets for One & Only Reethi Rah (coconut, rose, brown sugar, vanilla bean; a room and linen spray), and Island Garden for Villa Haven (jasmine and creamy coconut). Treat that as what they had just made then, not a current guest-shop menu.
Item prices are on vilunu.com in MVR. They are not copied here. The shop also has gift groups labelled “Gifts under MVR 350” and “Gifts under MVR 500”.
A banner on the shop says new customers get a 10% discount code when they subscribe to the newsletter.
No phone number appears on vilunu.com.
A 22 July 2020 post, “A Branding Set in Stone”, says Vilunü is pronounced “Vilu-noo”, from the Dhivehi for lagoon blue. Lagoons are “vilu”; “vilu-noo kula” is the blue of the lagoon, which they cite to Radheef.mv (2020). They say the logo’s base shape comes from a seal they saw repeated on sultan’s tombstones, with dots for salt crystals and leaves for the islands’ plants. The retail line is called Scents of Maldives: scents tied to childhood homes and island visits.
If you have been to the shop and can fill a gap, tell us. A receipt photo is the most useful thing.
